Episode 411 - I Do!
Tables for Hire
Tables...the spice of life
Well, my friends Susan and Mark are finally tying the knot. When they began planning their big day, they came to me and asked for my help. I was happy to oblige and couldn't wait to get into their home to do some really wonderful stuff.

Now that the big day has finally arrived, the setting up of the celebration room is essential. I hired a moving company to come in and take all of the furniture away. The sofas, lamps, couches, everything had to be removed in order to create the perfect space for all the furniture that we had decided upon for the wedding.

We selected standard, 60" round tables; typical of what you would find when you go to a specialty rental or venue location for your wedding. At these tables, eight people will fit comfortably. The next size up is a 72" round table, and that is more for tables of 10, 11, and 12 guests.

Can't forget the 24" cocktail round. This is called a drop table, and it is typically placed at an entranceway for arriving guests to "drop" champagne glasses, little purses, whatever they have that they don't wish to carry for the evening.

Another favourite rental table is the serpentine. Serpentines are wonderful because of their curved shape; when married with a second table, they form an interesting "S" shape.

Keep in mind that the heights of all your tables are adjustable. Rental companies typically offer extensions: little pipes that you can place under the legs of the tables in order to raise the height.

The important thing is to make sure that your guests are as comfortable as possible. The many options that a rental company can provide should help to ensure this.
