Wind Up Mouse Toy |
|
A very unusual as well as old piece is one made by Louis Marx, an American company. In 1931, it sold for 98 cents. This wind-up mouse toy was their answer to Mickey Mouse. Given the likeness to Mickey Mouse, they worried about being sued. They really stylized it, with mice playing the violin, the piano, the drums, as well as a tap dancer. Wind it up, and they all get going at the same time. Collectors love it because it is so art deco. According to Brian, a piece like this is now worth about $1500.00 U.S. (a lot more if you have the original box).
