Curing Cast Iron |
|
Lucky for you, I have a handy idea! It is something called tempering, and you should do it when you purchase a brand new cast iron skillet.
Supplies:
- 1 new cast iron fry pan
- cheese cloth
- vegetable oil (or olive oil)
Method:
Pre-heat oven to 350°.
Dip cheesecloth into oil.
Apply a liberal coating on the inside, the sides, the outside, and even the underside of the pan.
Transfer into oven. Let it sit there for 2 hours.
Turn oven off and allow pan to remain in oven overnight.
Now, your cast iron pan is tempered. Better still, it prevents it from rusting.
