Episode 308 - Kit Kat Club
Braised Pork Chops
Pretty swanky
Our venture to the Kit Kat Club continues as I reveal to you how to make a swank dinner for two in no time at all. The great thing about this recipe is that the finished product looks sophisticated and difficult but it is actually quite easy. Braised Pork Chops are a favourite of mine and you will find that creating this recipe will leave you with a great taste in your mouth!

Ingredients :
  • 4 trimmed pork chops, about ¾" thick (can also use veal or lamb), leave the bone in
  • 1 halved and cored apple (can also use pineapple, apricots, peaches, or pears)
  • 2 plums, quartered
  • ½ cup yellow raisins
  • handful of blueberries
  • handful of sundried cranberries, soaked in 1 oz of sherry
  • ¼ cup pecans
  • chopped savoury
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • rind from 1 lemon (can also use orange or lime)
  • juice from 1 lemon
  • 1 cup chicken stock (can also use beef)

Method :

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Heat medium size skillet to medium-high.
Sear pork chops on each side (this protects the insides and keeps them juicy but sears the outsides to make them flavourful).
Lay apples on top of porkchops. Add fruit complements. Add pecans, savoury, brown sugar, lemon rind, lemon juice, and chicken stock.
Cover skillet with lid or tinfoil and allow to bake for one hour.
Remove from oven. Place on cook top set at high.
Remove pork chops from glaze and place on platter.
Cook the fruit glaze until the liquid evaporates and becomes thick. (Takes about 10 minutes). Pour reduced glaze over chops on entree plate.
Garnish with quartered plums and apples.
Serve with your favourite vegetable accompaniments, such as brussels sprouts, as well as cous-cous.

A Kit Kat Club classic. Purrfectly delicious!!!
