Good Wood |
|
Those of us concerned with the environment should be encouraged
to think about ways of protecting the wooden pieces we already own.
When introducing a new cutting board, salad bowl or service piece,
you may want to think about curing it before use. With these easy
to follow steps you may end up saving an entire rainforest!
Supplies:
- lemon oil
- cheesecloth
- any wooden
piece (bowl, board, cutting board, etc.)
Method:
Dip a piece
of cheesecloth into essential oil (lemon oil works very well).
Next, rub the cloth into your wooden product in the direction
of the grain.
Repeat each time you use your wooden piece, and it will no longer
crack, split, or warp.
As the saying
goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
