Time was when a French baguette or Italian loaf were the most exotic
offerings from your local bread maker. As the world gets smaller,
there seems to be more and more ingenious recipes and varieties
of breads that can be had from bakeries everywhere.
How about trying a Focaccia with ingredients such as walnuts, Gorgonzola
cheese, pancetta, black olives and even sun dried tomatoes? Sour
dough breads make the perfect accompaniment to a hearty bowl of
soup or spicy chili. Even baguettes are now made with different
doughs and ingredients such as muesli. Each and every one is worth
a try.
Here's a hint for making bread that's a couple of days old oven
fresh. Place it into a paper bag. Sprinkle the top of the bag with
some water and place it into an oven pre-heated to 200 degrees for
ten minutes or so. You'll find that your bread springs back to life
and tastes like, well, like it's fresh out of the oven.
